ThemeLounge #58 – Moving

Hey, welcome back to ThemeLounge! Sorry it took a bit longer than I expected to produce the follow-up to our triumphant return in Episode 57, but I’m hoping you’ll find it worth the wait. This show features songs specially chosen for the theme of Moving. There are some very cool tunes in here – some familiar, some listener requests, and some new discoveries. You’ll hear from Monte Montgomery, The Kooks, The Cars, The Sweet Remains and more.

A few quick notes: 1) During the show I give the wrong album title for the Cars song – it’s correct in the track list below; 2) For all of my gushing about the Sweet Remains song, I fail to mention its title – again, see the track list; 3) When we recorded the Alex segment, we picked up a bit more wind noise than I realized – sorry about that, and we won’t do another remote segment for a while.

I’ll make it a priority to get Episode #59 out the door more promptly than this one. Making you wait this long again would just be Bad. But wait…that’s the theme of the next show – Bad! So I’ve gotta be good and get out the Bad show ASAP! And if you’ve got some songs that you just know would be good for the Bad show, now’s the time to send ‘em our way! Send your suggestions via e-mail to the address shown at right, post a comment here on the blog, or hit the “Call Me!” button at right to leave us a message! Thanks for listening, and tell your friends!

Nice to have another episode so soon.
Some “bad” suggestions ;)
I’m Bad, I’m Nationwide–ZZ Top
Bad Time–cover by Jayhawks
Bad Sneakers–Steely Dan
Bad Case of History–Robyn Hitchcock and the Egyptians

Seems like you never left!! Thanks for another mighty fine ‘cast. Now that I’ve listened to the Moving episode twice through, I’m ready to comment. :-) Thanks for the inclusion(s) of the Jefferson’s Themes (and yes, that does seem to date us, doesn’t it?). I especially liked the reggae version that you started off with. But for me, the hidden jewel of this episode was the Monte Montgomery track. I’ve been turned on to more new music leads listening to this show than from any other source! Thanks again.

Now, with my humble suggestions for the Bad show:

Missy suggested Bad Sneakers already. A great choice! But how about the Push Stars version from the Me, Myself, and Irene soundtrack?

It Hurts So Bad, the first Susan Tedesci song that I ever heard.

Johnny Too Bad, from the Slickers, or Steve Earle, or

Yer So Bad from Tom Petty

Goin’ Down the Road Feeling Bad from the Grateful Dead

Great show. Here are some suggestions:

Goodbye & Good Riddance To Bad Luck: AC/DC
Bad Boy: The Beatles
Bad Bug: Zorak
Bad Side Of The Moon: Elton John (of course the 11-17-70 one)
Bad Love: Eric Clapton
Need Your Love So Bad: Fleetwood Mac
Born Under A Bad Sign: Jimi Hendrix
Good Times, Bad Times: Led Zeppelin
Yer So Bad: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
