ThemeLounge #60 – Open

Um…hello again. After an almost three-year hiatus, I’m very pleased to say that ThemeLounge is back! There’s plenty of apologizing and explaining to do, but why take up space here when you can just listen to the show and enjoy my whining in full 16-bit stereo?

We’re picking up where we left off: at Show #60, which is the Open show. I sure didn’t plan it this way, but this theme serves as a nice opportunity to say that ThemeLounge is Open for business once again! I had fun picking out some sweet tunes for this show, and I hope you enjoy the selections from Gotye, John Hiatt, Santana, Snow Patrol and more.

This will be explained in the show, but be forewarned that the conversation with Alex is a “lost” recording that we did waaaaaay back in 2009. So chronologically, everything’s out of whack; but it’s still a good segment and I couldn’t stand to let this one and a few others just molder away without ever seeing the light of day. After I’ve produced new shows with the remaining “lost” Alex segments, I’ll have a cool surprise for you.

But on to the next show – yes, really! There’ll be another one after this! I’m sure some of you more dedicated ThemeLounge fans are weeping tears of joy over the show’s return, so it seems appropriate that the next episode’s theme will be Cry. I would love to get the ol’ request machine humming again, so if you’ve got any song ideas for the Cry show, I sure hope you’ll send ‘em our way: Send e-mail to the address shown at right, post a comment here on the blog, or hit the “Call Me!” button at right to leave us a message!

Ooh – before I forget, please visit the brand-new ThemeLounge page on Facebook! Be sure to click “Like” and definitely share the page with all your friends!

THANK YOU FOR LISTENING!

The ‘cast is even better than I remembered! As I said already, so very glad to have you back. Looking forward to future episodes! As for the “Cry” episode, I have a few ideas. For radio-friendly tunes there’s Prince’s “When Doves Cry” and Mr. Loaf’s “For Crying Out Loud.” For a country flavor there’s Kasey Chambers’ “Cry Like A Baby” and Marty Stuart’s “Cry,Cry,Cry” (though I really like “Crying, Waiting, Hoping,” the Buddy Holly cover he did with Steve Earle). Classic rocker choices would be the Stones’ “Fool to Cry” and Jethro Tull’s “To Cry You A Song.” Finally, on the reggae side there’s Marley’s “No Woman, No Cry.” (Check out the Xavier Rudd cover of this one).

Good show!

Cry Love – John Hiatt
No Woman, No Cry (Live) – Bob Marley
Cry for a Shadow – The Beatles
The Sky is Crying – Stevie Ray Vaughan
No Reason to Cry – Tom Petty

I expect ALL of these!!!
